Web Development or Game Programming?

I'm just wondering which career is high on demand nowadays in North America specifically in Canada because I'm deciding which course of study is much more stable and guaranteed a job. Either Web Development or Game Programming. I'm interested in going into both of these programs but i need to know which one i can benefit more from the two. I searched some reviews about it online and now i can use some advice from experienced people.

Web Development or Game Programming?
Web Development is always in high demand because companies need websites to promote their products.

Game Programming can be very competitive in the States. Yet In Canada the industry is starting and it will be hard to enter as well.
Reply:I started messing around with HTML and web programming in the mid 90's and I wish I would have stuck with it. Because it can be applied to ANY business, it is always in high demand. You would need to learn FLASH, java, CGI scripting, Cold Fusion, and other programming in addition to HTML to be successful. It's amazing what large corporations get charged monthy just to update text and photos.

Game programming is a smaller niche, but you have to follow what you believe in and what gets you excited to go to work everyday. A smaller niche also allows you to become more well known in a shorter time period if you are good and program for major gaming companies.
Reply:I think web development would have a greater earnings opportunity because almost every business needs a website. Game design would be very competitive, therefore the wages would be lower. If you are really passionate about Game design, I would pursue game design. You can always switch careers if it doesn't work out.
Reply:Game programming is more challenging but make sure you have got few gaming companies in your city.
