I am thinking of doing a 5000 dollar diploma in web development but am wondering if I would be just as successful at finding a job if I self-learn web development. Please explain your answers
Are qualifications important for a web developer to get work?
In many situations - probably all small shop operations - I think if you can demonstrate skills and competency that no one cares about if you have a diploma in web dev or not.
However, the minute you go to a large company you have to compete just at the resume and job application stage to even get an interview. In those situations you might find that the competent self taught person's resume never gets to the top of the pile.
A degree tells an employer that you are teachable and can complete what you start. So with the big company the degree will carry more weight and may be the foothold you need to get in the front door.
Reply:If you apply for jobs in corporate firms , they may ask you to furnish them with your academic qualifications and experience.
You may find jobs in private firms. If you prove your ability,
you may be successful. Private firms also pay handsome
salaries
